Udemy is a market place for online courses based in San Francisco. There are about 4 million students taking up courses using the platform and more than 15000 instructors teaching. The company has been operating for 5 years and has raised a total of 48 million dollars as at the time of this speech. Eren Bali is one of the co-founders of Udemy and its former CEO.

Eren Bali presents the pride of his team for leading a revolution in online education at the regional level, if not the world, when speaking early in Istanbul. He emphasized this by saying that starting a business can be easy and direct. As an entrepreneur, you are guided by these four basic methods.

First, find out whether want to make substantial changes in the local, regional or international market. Keying out the market makes it easy for you to get the concentration you mostly want to influence, regulate, and give you direction. Choosing an improper market causes difficulties in trying to start a successful business.

Second, think of ideas with the objective of conquering the actual market. For Udemy, the idea is to create a market where all and sundry can teach online and learn whatever they want. But in some cases the idea changes and the company must adapt to the user’s insight. Depending on customer satisfaction, you may need to change the product several times before getting the right one for your users.

Third, turning over ideas into products. This product covers many aspects, including user experience. Even with the same idea, you might need to change products one by one to find the right mechanism that attracts the user’s attention and really causes them to use your product. Even though you have the best product, the main goal is to create the best product from that idea by talking to customers and receiving feedback. It took some time to convince the first person to buy the product. However, once you realize that you have a product that really works, it is time to switch from one product to the store.

Whenever you get to understand and follow all the above, this last step would come in handy for the purpose of transforming the product as soon as you know that it works, into a company. Think about and be aware that, how you get a company from nothing to a place where it is working successfully, is different from how you scale up the same startup.

Later, Eren Bali graduated from Middle East University in Turkey not only with a bachelor’s degree in computer science but also a double degree in mathematics.
