The Importance of Fund Size

Adeo Ressi recommends fund sizes of $2.5-5 million for developing markets and $5-10 million for developed markets. Exceptions can be larger but starting a $20 million fund at $10 million is better to exceed expectations than risk failing a $20 million goal. Funds scale up more easily than down, so undershooting the target size is preferable to overshooting and missing the goal.
