Why a Degree in Psych Trumps an MBA for VC Success
Some interesting insights into the world of VC from my recent interview with Seth Levine
1. Understanding people and what motivates them is critical for VCs, as investing is an influence game rather than a decision making game. Psychology provides a great foundation.
2. VCs don't actually operate the businesses they invest in. They offer opinions and guidance but have no real authority. Effective communication and influence skills are vital.
3. VCs who try to make decisions or operate their portfolio companies are overstepping their role. The VC's role is providing guidance and influence, not calling the shots.
