Neil-Patel-HeadshotWhat does growth hacking mean to you in today’s terms?

Growth hacking is a way of mixing marketing and product together in order to grow a business.

What are some of your favorite “tools” for growth hacking?

I love using Qualaroo, KISSmetrics, Hellobar, Moz, and Google Analytics to name a few.

Are growth hackers needed at all stages of a startup?

Yes, they can help businesses of all sizes grow. For example Dropbox used growth hacking techniques when they were only worth a few million dollars and they still use them at their multi billion-dollar stage.

How is growth hacking different from normal marketing?

Yes, normal marketing doesn’t take into account things like first user experience, on boarding, embeds, or anything product/development related.

How much technical chops do you think a growth hacker needs?

If you don’t have any, you can still be a growth hacker as long as you are willing to learn. But the more technical skills you have, the better off you will be.

How would a growth hacker interact within a company on a day-to-day basis?

A growth hacker would work with product, marketing and engineering. You need the whole company on board to grow as the changes will require help from multiple divisions.

What about the study cases? Can you give us some brand examples using growth hacking best?

Dropbox, Upwrothy, and Airbnb are all good examples of Growth Hacking. They have all grown at a fast pace due to growth hacking.
